Artist's Description

A pier in John Lawson Park in West Vancouver. This is a 50 second exposure using my 10-stop ND filter. The people standing on the end of the pier did not stay still for the entire duration of the photo, resulting in the ghostly shapes visible. You can even make out some ghostly fishing lines off the left side of the pier!

About Alexis Birkill

Alexis Birkill

Born in the UK, I moved to Vancouver, BC in 2011. My career in photography has grown from a long-held passion for capturing the beauty of the world, aided on the technical side by my background as a software developer. I specialise in fine art photography of landscapes, seascapes and cityscapes in and around the Pacific Northwest, with work exhibited internationally. Many of my photographs feature the beautiful city of Vancouver, but as well as capturing its iconic cityscapes, I can often be found exploring the BC and Washington coastline for new photographic opportunities, as well as developing my portfolio of night sky photographs featuring the Milky Way and the Aurora Borealis.
